Nike has suspended online sales in Turkey through its website and mobile app. This decision comes in response to the recent increase in customs duties on online purchases from abroad.
In a statement, Nike explained that the suspension was due to concerns about ensuring smooth and timely delivery of orders. The company noted that it currently cannot guarantee that online orders will reach Turkish customers without delays or complications, leading to the halt of online operations.
However, Nike reassured customers that its products would still be available in Turkey through physical retail stores and affiliated outlets. The company remains committed to serving the Turkish market through these traditional channels.
The new customs measures, implemented earlier this week, significantly raised the tax rates on online goods. For items purchased from the European Union, the duty increased from 20% to 30%, while products from other countries now face a 60% tax, up from the previous 30%.
